Was charcoal ever a color in 2000?

From that pic above it, and I have only seen pics that the seller has sent me, it does look like that matte black that is almost charcoal in color. The reason I ask is that I know that that color was not offered on the 2000 model year - only the pearlized black, at least MSN says so. So, I'm a bit concerned that the car was painted, although the owner says it wasn't.

The "pearlized" black, or ebony pearl metallic... IS the colour your talking about, it is the same as volcano black, and looks like a dark gray. Here... lemme see if I can find you a pic of my car in the sun. It's ebony pearl. -- the last pic shows how dark it CAN look, in the right light.

Thats me too. 01, 2.8. Great color. Less demanding then black. Blends so well with unpainted, looks almost like you have color matched lowers. On a clear day it picks up blue from the sky. Cloudy gives you rich charcoal.

Thanks for your replies! What a great forum.... I took the plunge, and it is a great color! It has every option including the xenons and has only one small scratch with a perfect interior and a recent tune up and timing belt change. $9300. May not be the best deal with the high miles, but I'm happy with it.
