Check Eng. Light-On
I have Check Engine light came on and brought to the dealer. They told me it was because the 4 sparkplugs are time to replaced and charge me cdn$130+taxes. I can replace them myself but not sure whether the light wil go off or not after. They gave me the impression that if I change them myself the light will not go off, it has to reset by the dealer. First thing come to my mind was what kind of a f*** sparkplugs is that cost over $130. I told them to go ahead replacing them, but am I a sucker or is it true that the light will not go off and have to reset by the dealer?
If the light have to be reset by the dealer such as this one and the oil/maintenace service indicator light. I think Audi just lost one customer already because I think its not fair and its a f*** ripe off. These guys trained to say the famous word "YOU HAVE TO BRING IT IN FOR US TO CHECK" and most of the time they don't tell you there is a cost for DIAGNOSTIC 1/2HR=$45 if you decide not to go ahead and fix the fault.
What an awfal experience I have with this Audi dealer, I was planning to trade for a new Audi and like I said before they just lost one customer, and I'm not going to keep this car either-no more Audi period. I will spend my $$$ somewhere else.

Yeah good solution... your lucky they only charged you for half an hour they usualy round it of to an hour and charge you $85+ just about anywhere you go with charge diagnostics
And if your interested you can do the diagnostics yourself and save money?
and you should be replaceing your spark plugs at regular intervals or at least checking them and not waiting till they foul...no matter what kind of car you buy you have to change plugs eventualy...unless of course its a diesel

you could have bought the spark plugs from wvparts.com for like 7 bucks a plug. If that really was setting off the CEL, you could have disconnected the battery for an hour or so, and it will reset the CEL.
Oh so that simple just disconnect the battery, and the check eng. light will not come on again? Is that just for this problem or it will set off forever and what about the reminder indicator light, like Oil/Maintenance Service are they work the ame way, etc.? Sorry it probably stupid question but I'm not that good at repairing car.
yes it will reset the CEL if the problem has indeed gone away. As far as the service reminder light, it will return as soon as you start up. As CRAZYHAWK said, you can reset that yourself per the manuel, UNLESS you have an A4 built in 96-98, in which case it must be reset with a VAG-Com.
