I was driving home from my gf's house and the check engne light came on in my car, I haven't taken it to emmisions and I know i need an oil change, could any of those be the prob?

 

haha welcome to the club. Heres what you should do. Take the cel bulb out and vag your car every other week. =)

 

lol theres no bulb its an led i do believe, get it checked with a vag and tell us the codes

 

my dad just did the vag and it came up P1472 EVAP systems leak detection pump circuit, short to ground.........what does that mean?

Find your air box and check the vacuum lines.

 

P1472 no such code "what diagnostic tool was used??" was that the right code or does your dad need new glasses lol, from your description the EVAP system was set off by the gas cap seal ( or you turned the ignition on when the cap was off ) or is there a vacuum line split/off/corroded, check the code again
