Check engine light... Air Mass Regulator...
Hey folks,
I recently purchased a 1998 A4 1.8T. The mechanic I purchased the car from replaced the air mass regulator before handing the car over to me. Less than a week later, the check engine light came on. I took the vehicle to an O'reilly Auto Parts store to use their computer diagnosis system. The computer came back with a P1136 error code, which is indicative of a faulty air mass regulator. I reset the check engine light and it hasn't come back on despite driving the car the past few days.
What are the chances that this check engine light was a false positive? Is it possible that the car's central computer did not identify the new air mass regulator?
How soon should the check engine light come back on if there is actually something wrong with the air mass regulator?
Is it possible that resetting the check engine light will prevent it from signaling a faulty air mass regulator?
Thanks
M
