Default Which Chip?

Hey, I just bought a 2000 A4 1.8T Quat. Um.. Should the chip be the first performance mod? Which one is the best? Where do you get it?

Use the "search" function. This is the most covered topic in this forum.

welcome and congrats on the purchase... Generaly, use the search link at the top of the page to find out things you want to know. This question is asked a lot so theres tons of info on it in the search. APR, GIAC, and revo are the most common ones out there. Reliability is the same for all, and all give about equal gains in power. When you get chipped youll need a better Diverter Valve (DV) at least a 710N ($35), the chip will cost about $500-$550 for either one... APR is real smooth.. GIAC is more aggressive feeling, and someone else can tell you about revo-but i like i said they are all about the same with the B5/2000A4. A chip is well worth the money. I pee'd my pants a little when i got mine. [&:]

I'd really check into APR just because you can have the car programmed and be able to turn the chip on and off, and with these rising gas prices, I wish I got that option when I got chipped. (Chips don't really do much to actual mileage, just encourage you to drive a lot more aggressively).

It is possible to drive conservitively with a chip and get better mileage than was possible with stock programing.. You just have to have some self restraint sometimes i guess if you dont want bad gas mileage. GIAC is probably the better choice, in case you want more power down the road they give you a discount on the chip that is needed for a k04 turbo (k03 replacement). Not that apr is bad by any means.. Giac also offers a switch loader that you can select a few different programs including stock.

Sorry, but what is a N75? I'm going to get chipped in the very near future and am curious what this is.
