I have an 02 a4 3.0 and was looking at engine chips. Around how much hp will it give me and what does it do the engine. Lastly, will a chip mess with other computer functions in my car like say esp?

Im going to be nice, A chip raises the boost and advancing timeing, it will make your car alot faster and u will enjoy it. I hope it works out for ya.

havn't researched 3.0s for chips... not sure if there is any, but if there is... it won't be raising any bost

 

Two main manufactures of chips... APR and GIAC. i will leave it up to you to search the forums for the copious amounts of information.

 

Ya please just do a basic google let alone forum space... just watch out for voiding your warenty...go with a ecu swap or socket it so you can take the chip out

As he said above since you don't own a turbo car it won't raise the boost. Thus chip isn't really that great of a mod for a non-turbo car. You're better off doing exhaust & suspension and saving up for a PES supercharger if it ever comes out.

no HUGE gain, but 15 hp, 20 lb/ft is nothing to cry over. all depends on how much ur willing to pay for that much.

but yeah, i'd do exhaust, suspension, brakes, intake, etc before that
