Default Chip and MPG

Ok so i have an apr stock, 91, 93 program. i was planning on running on stock all of winter and turning on the chip again in the spring. Well its already december and i can seem to pull my self from turning the chip back to stock beucase it is jsut to shitty and the car is way to slow . Soooooo i have heard before from a bunch of diffrent people that under normal driving (which me for me is staying under 1 psi the whole time, so basicaly not boosing ) that the chip actually slightly increases your MPG or in my case L/100km. is this true or is it jsut a mith? have people found that they do get better mpg during normal driving with the chip ?

Thanks a lot

Anthony

staying under 1 psi while taking an on ramp into a highway is kinda pathetic lol

Yes, your fuel economy should be better with the chip when you drive "normally".

lol its funny u said that, beucase whenever i am entering a on ramp i boost hard all the way to the end, but on city streets and during normal driving as i said i keep it under 1psi. Oh and here in ontario 50 over the limit gets you an instant arrest, suspended licence, and the police impound your car.[:'(][:'(][:@] so for the winter i can resist speeding for a bit, but back to the MPG question lol

Run it and post the results. I would love to see what you're getting for MPG.

I drive from Boston MA to Beverly MA everyday (75% highway doing 55 mph) and on mid-grade I have been getting 27 mpg. I also have not hit a traffice jam since owning the car.

Hey Boston,
How in the hell have you managed to not hit traffic leaving Boston every day? I'm in Quincy, BTW.

Ok back to the topic...I'd alsolike to see the dif in mpg if you go back to stock. Both my rides are bone stock, but I'm seriously thinking of chipping them when the warranty expires.

a chip increases fuel economy because from the factory, our Audi's run slightly rich to be on the safer side. chips make you run a bit leaner so if your never exceeding 5-8psi, your getting better fuel economy than if you were unchipped. and also a lot of gas is being used under acceleration, and hardly little while cruising, so the faster you get up to speed the sooner you'll start using less gas. you wouldn't wanna do this in an area with lots of stops tho
