To chip or not to chip

To chip or not to chip
I never chipped my 2000 A4, although I had always planned too. Now that I have a Quattro, I'm ready. It's new and Leased, so I don't want to tip the dealer off that it is chipped. I've read that you can get a new ECU that can be swapped out with the factory and if you have a major service warranty type need, you can put the old one end. Is this true? Any guidence here would be greatful.

RE: To chip or not to chip
I emailed the local dealer and he already responded. For $499 + $45 labor, they are going to install the APR State 1 chip in my ECU. Could I even use yours? I thought they were more engine/year specific.

RE: To chip or not to chip
I got APR's software installed today. Two otions (1) Stock and (2) 91 Octane. You change it with the cruise control lever. It also includes a security code so the dealer can't access it. To say the least, APR's 1.1 Bar program really rocks. It pulls much harder now at lower RPMs.
