Default Chip question???

Well i just bought myself a used GIAC chip for $250. My question was it came off of a 99 1.8t tiptronic and i have a 99 5spd fwd. The guy at NGP that i bought it off of said it would work because our cars are pre DBW and the chip can be used for multiple cars. He said he called giac and asked and they said it would work with five different a4 97-99.5 cars. The thing that sucks is my brother in law wouldn't give me the ecu # off of my car since its not in front of me just to make sure the ecu would match. One other thing, I checked AWE's site and all the 97-99.5 have the same part #PGL30A.V03. So I just hope it works and ill call giac monday to double check. The guy i dealt with at NGP was the owner and said he would give me my money back if it didn't work. Pretty cool i guess.

You should be able to tell just by checking the engine type. That may be what you mean by ecu#, but if not check that. It's stamped on the drivers side front of the valve cover under the black plastic cover. It'll be a three letter code, ie. ATW, AEP...

You hate to wait, but you know the anticipation is only going to build and make getting all that much better! Hope everything works out for you (ecu number and all)!!

Yea i am impatient when it comes to cars. I have been driving a piece of **** for the past 3 years and finally im getting something nice. Just talked with awe and they said its no problem. So im going to either send my ecu to them and have them socket it and reflash it or to NGP which i bought the chip off the owner so i may get a discount
