Dave u drive a B6 rite, the B5s to get chipped u had to take out your ECU and then they soder a chip on
but us yes all we have to do is drive to the chip dear and htey just plug in to our diagnostic port and REFLASH (change the programing in our ECU) so its a true plug and play almost, no dangours sodering or removing of the ECU box

but i dont like how we have to pay 500 for osmething that isnt physical though but oh well

Its an '01. Mech said it would take about 1/2 hour; as far as I know its a GIAC reflash and nothing had to be soldered on. Does it make a difference? How can I tell if my car is one of the 'right' 01s?

Dave, by reflash I mean I already took it in for the GIAC burn, and now they want to redo it because there are no codes and nothing obviously mechanical wrong with the engine.

I have a B6 with APR 93 octane. What year was the B5 'flashable' ?
And btw Panda the reason a flash is so expensive is because our ECU's are VERY advanced. Alot of work going into developing the software.
And if you think 500bucks is alot for a flash , I paid $950 Canadian for 93 octane program and stock flipswitch.
Now thats alot!

Got the red 1.8T! I wondered about that when I bought the car because I had never noticed it before. And nope, no labor charge (I would be pissed if they tried to charge me labor; if it needs to be redone that means it wasn't done right the first time!) Do you think it will solve anything (jerks as boost comes on, still have a lot of power tho)?
