Default Chipped a month ago, now sometimes fast, sometimes not

Hey guys, I had my 2000 a4 1.8tqmchipped about a month ago along with a new 710n dv installedand really noticed the turbo kicking in at about 3000rpm. But the extra power now seems to come and go. Sometimes it seems nice & quick while at other times it seems likeit was never chipped. I tried searching for a thread of similar nature but couldn't find one close enough. Any suggestions or threads that may be helpful? Could something else have failed or needs replacing to handle the extra boost? Car drives fine besides this.

Sounds like your 710N failed and finally busted. Posting your year/model/engine size will make an answer 2500x easier

Please dont post unless you have the slightest idea what youre talking about.

You could be going in and out of limp mode. Time for a boost gauge, and get your ecu scanned for fault codes and post em if there are any stored.

There is engine limp mode and tranny limp mode. You can go into limp mode from over/under boosting, running lean/rich, or anything that the ECU sees thatcan possibly harm the engine. It is a feature only on 00+. It reverts boost/fuel/timing to stock levels if youre chipped.
Its partly the reason why its easy to kill an AEB engine (97-99.5)with a bad tune. There are no tattle tale sensors to protect the engine.

I feel the same way about my 00' with GIAC chip. I've got a boost gauge and the needle is still poking the 18 and dropping to the 17, but it just feels like the motor itself doesn't help as much as it used to or something. I dunno, I always assume that the extra boost made a leak worse somewhere that my gauge isnt picking up?

Oops, sorry, I edited my post to include that info, it wasn't in there before. Will the ecu log whether the engine has been going in and out of limp mode? Yup, i think a boost gauage along with an mbc may be my next purchases.

it sounds like the n75, if u had a boost gauge u could see what its doing, mine was spiking 23 then dropping to 16 then pegging back to 20 lbs and holding, sometimes it would flux again... you could feel the boost come and go... ended up being the n75
