Default Is chipping my A4 bad?

I have a 2003 Audi A4 (1.8) and would like to gain more HP and torque (from 170hp stock
to over 230+) via chipping or flashing whatever you call it.

1) Is it bad for my car over time?
2) Do I have to change other things like my axels since i will have lots more power?
3) What brand softwareshould I get, GIAC or APR?

A shop told me I could get my car chipped for $500 and for $620 they will chip it and change
the fuel injectors so i will get closer to 300HP.

Should I have the injectors changed? Maybe i will have to change other stuff then too?

YOUR HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!

Thanks,
Reuben

i do not think that you will get both for 620 a chip and injectors???? i'd check that again.....and if your just doing a chip then dont do the injectors just do the diverter valve and throttle body boot....

if i do just the chip do i have to do the diverter valve and throttle body boot?
What if i don't do that, will it break? i would rather just keep it simple. Just a chip.

well you can do "just the chip" but the diverter valve is going to fail after you do that.... and the tbb will problyfail on you to..the diverter valve is not more then 150 and it is a do it yourself install and im not to sure about how much the tbb is on your a4.....but if you ask anyone that has an a4 that has chipped the car and has done the proper maintenance i guarantee they will tell you it is 100% worth it...like night and day difference.....

What the hell is the use of having a FAQ & search function if nobody uses them?

for two reasons.

1. because there are things not covered in the FAQ.

2. and because if everything was in the FAQ there wouldn't be much of a forum

you will need (should install before or during your flash) a diverter valve....I believe, but may be wrong that you will be okay running a 710N from the TT, without any problems (they only cost 35$, you can get it at any stealership)...this is all you will need...the idea that you will get an additional 70hp from injectors I am pretty positive will not happen...I'd say the next thing on the list after that is called a chip tip, which you can search on this forum (up at the top of the screen)....I'm not sure what the tip trans is rated, but I know that many people have had to do something(possibly an upgrade?) to their valve bodies (I think I remember it being an 800$ deal), so that the trans could handle any added power above and beyond a chip....the next thing on your list after what was stated above would be free flowing exhaust (possibly downpipe?...depending on emmisions in your area) and then I would say you should really forcus on suspension....these cars are known for their phenomenal handleing, these are not straight line cars, they are built to make you smile through the twisties, at least until you go BT (big turbo).....

good luck hopefully something in there made sense.....
Actually 80% of the stuff you mentioned does not make sense and is false. Dont worry about the throtle body boot (mattr??). There is a lot of bad info circulating on the forums lately and im not sure why. All you need is the chip and a DV. Bosch710N ($35)is the one you want if youre not trying to spend a lot. A chip doesnt make your car any less reliable. Since you have an 03/B6 there is a big injector file available which can get you another 70ish hp.There is no tip chip available for your car yet. AWE tuning is trying to work on it and you might want to call them to verify, but the B6 tip is not as sluggish as the B5's. You dont need to worry about a level10 tranny upgrade unless you go BT. After the chip and DV a higher flowing exhaust should be next on your "list"-nothing else. A test pipe will help you but if your state has emissions tests forget it because it replaces your cat. You can go through the twisties just fine and better with a BT... wtf?
QuattroA4 get your info straight if youre going to try to help someone out. That has got to be the most F'd up post i have ever seen...

I have a b5, and by reading your post I learned a few things, like I said, hopefully something in there made sense...and something did, but for his application alot was just a wasted effort, I appologize!

All you need is a Chip and a Diverter Valve, plan in simple. And you'll be fine, it should not make your car any less reliable. You'll gain good horse power and bear more like 210-220 than 230.. probably. Apparently they haven't made a chip for your car according to onepoint8t so I have no clue who gave you these "Quotes" on pricing... Did you not tell them you are TIP? Cause it does matter, you gotta be sure to list every little thing that makes your car different to these guys or you could be mis-quoted or mis-informed. Just be more careful next time, but now you know.
