Default Chipping a Tip?!

I been reading a lot about chipping on this forum. Gotta 2k1 a4 quattro with a tiptronic currently bone stock. Does chipping a tip produce good results? Also read that the transmission can also be reprogrammed for quicker shifting times, Just trying to learn all I can from ya's. Thx...
