Cigarette Lighter (center console)

Cigarette Lighter (center console)
Hello All,
I did some searching for the same issue that I had and only found a few posts with similar but not the same issue.
I have a 2003 A4 1.8T (B5 right?), and the cigarette lighter in the center console was working - but it stopped working and is still not functioning. I press it in, but it doesn't work, I tried to plugin different things to see if I can draw power from it and it doesn't work.
I thought that it might be a fuse problem, so I went into the fuse box and swapped out the same voltage(?) fuse but it didn't work.
So I remembered that there is another 12v in the trunk. I tried that and it works perfectly - so now the issue is that the cigarette lighter (12v) in the center console doesn't work, but the 12v in the trunk does work.
I'm assuming that these are on the same fuse? If they are, then it might be a wiring issue ... is there a detailed guide as to how to open the center console and check/fix the wiring?
Would anyone have any information as to how to do this, or how to check? Thanks again.
