CINCYTT NEED SOME ADVICE
I had a bearing at the back of my tranny seize which apperantly caused the failure of torque converter seal, dealership says tranny will now be full of metal shavings and tranny must be replaced. does this sound right? after car lost power, only drove about another 45 seconds to get into parking lot. car will still move , would go 15-20 kms/h with rpms around 3500

this info was what the local VW dealership folks told me. I am unsure of their diagnosis skills though. I went to them twice in the previous week for a CEL and got different answers both times. First said I needed to replace cat, then said I needed to replace an electronic fan the supplies air into cat. First time I brought it in, I reported to them that car was hesitating a bit, could have been tranny slipping
Take it to autozone and post the codes here. The dealer doesn't have a clue what they are talking about, is your car spilling tranny fluid all over the place? Cause thats what would happen if the torque converter seal was bad. I would say either your torque converter is toast or the clutch packs are worn out.
thanks auditech79, fluid was lost which is what I would imagine was the cause of the loss of power to the wheels. would you agree that if the bearing seal was toasted it would allow the tranny fluid pump to force the metal bits into the tranny?
