Can anyone tell me by looking at this picture if I can just take the piece that is broken off or do I have to get it welded.?
Any help is greately appreciated.

We need bigger pictures, I can't see anything thats broken since it's so small. Host them on photobucket or imageshack and post that link.

It looks to just be a mount that is broken off, should be able to weld it back on i think

I'm not an expert but looks like it could just be welded back on, it's just the bracket that holds the pipe in place. Looks like there is a decent amount of metal still on the pipe so hopefully it still has the right shape.

Yes it can be welded back on. That's the rearmost mount for the muffler (it broke on my car too). I was told that it's a good idea to disconnect the battery on an Audi before doing any welding (whether that matters or not, I don't know, but it's not going to hurt you to disconnect it).
