Default Clicking/ Knocking

When i shift from first to second while on full throttle or close to full throttle, i notice a clicking or knocking coming from the drivers side near the engine bay but closer to underneath the driver side on the exterior. my mechanic says it's due to a combonation of things, crappy gas in Nevada nad115 degree temps outside. has anybody else heard this noise. it drives me nuts. ineed toknow if anybody heard of any tsb's or fixes for this problem. when i vag it, everything shows up normaland i am not showing any cel's.

Thats kinda strange, it only happens between 1-2 gear? I would believe that if it happens in all gears.

Yeah it happens sometimes out here in cali (we only get 91 octane with MTBE), it doesn't ever happen to stock vehicles more commonly on vehicles chipped with MTM or GIAC software. Really bad when using a MBC. The summer heat will bring out detonation a lot, i recommend installing methanol injection or to try and use like a 108 octane booster and see if it helps.

Sounds like detonation to me. I had the exact same thing last summer only going from 1-2 gear under heavy load. Interesting thing was, when I swapped my hacked air box back to a stock one it went away. Havent had that happen again, even earlier this summer when temps were mid 90's.

They do update their software from time to time, so its a good idea to check with whoever chipped you on that. If there is an update, you will probably have to pay some labor for them to reflash the ecu, but the update itself is technically "free".

Id go easy on it, detonation to any degree is bad. It causes pre ignition which means while your piston is on the up stroke, gases are being prematurely combusted putting pressure/down force on that piston. Something like that..... But its not good.
