Default Clunky Transmission when downshifting?

Hi,

I have a 99.5 A4 1.8T...My pops ( with out my consent) just did an oil change on my ride..Since the oil change I have notices 2 things 1) The transmission kinda clunks when coming to a quick stop ( car comes to a stop and then a second later in the tranny go clunk) 2) Seems like I hear a humming noise when I accelerate..SO I took the car to Audi..They advised there was too much oil, so they drained it the right level...I still have the problem..Nothing comes up on the scan at the dealership??

From my understanding thsi car has a sealed transmission - can I still get the tranmisson services- the car only has 60K km on it..

Any ideas?

Thanks

Did your dad by chance drain your transmission and fill your crankcase?

Happens all the time when someone unfamiliar pulls the first plug he sees and drains the transmission.
That would cause your problems AND explain a severly overfilled crankcase. Any idea how much oil they had to drain out?

Have your dad point out which drain plug he opened.

The transmission can get serviced, but you will have to take it to a VW/Audi mechanic who has the proper tools and Audi transmission fluid.

Wow..holy crap..I'm gonna have that checked out asap..If that was the case, I wonder how much damage it may have caused?? - I have been driving for 2 days since the oil change..I'm not sure how much oil they drained out, the tech said there was way too much oil in there..when I checked the oil level with the dip stick It kept coming all black looking and was all all over the dip stick - way above the markings..I'll keep u updated..Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably didn't do much damage. If I remember correctly the tiptronic has a dry fill of 9 quarts and the pan drain is approximately 2.7.

Have it checked ASAP by a garage who deals with AUDI/VW and don't drive it until it is checked out.

What bothers me, is that if this is the problem, the Audi dealership didn't diagnose the issue. The tech should be shot.

A4inthe604 tells the technician "My dad drained my oil and now my transmission doesn't work". (Clue number 1)

Audi technician says "Wow, you have WAAAAY too much oil in the crank case, like 3 quarts too much, and it is real dirty for oil that was just changed two days ago". (Clue number 2)
