Clutch Trouble
Needing a new clutch for my A4, I purchased a Spec Stage II with an Aluminum single piece flywheel. Once installed and driven, I find that the transmission rattles a bit, but all else is acceptable. In an effort to silence this rattle a mechaninc suggests the installation of a snub-nose mount while replacing my timing belt. I agree, only to find out I now have a rattle and a high pitch squeal when first engaging the clutch. I argue but get no where. So I take it to another shop a few months later and tell them my story. The mechanic jumps in for a test drive and announces upon his return that the clutch is slipping, never mind the squeal. What? I check it out and, sure enough, it's slipping. Hmmmm. Clutch performance is better the next day, but not the same. It is still slipping, however, there is no squeal! So, I'm thinking this mechanic burnt my clutch out so he'd have some work. I really have no proof that this guy did anything wrong. I'm pretty sure I need to get it fixed and at least have the Spec techs look at it. Who ever does the job, I'll need a guarantee that the squeal won't return. What should I do?
Never heard of clutch causing squealing sound in transmission… and it’s not that easy to burn the clutch, I don’t think u can even burn Stage II clutch in few min. of test drive (u would have to be complete idiot and clutch would stink), most likely your clutch was already in a bad shape or it was very and very bad quality. You would have to take it off and see what’s wrong with it.
