Code 411... intake problem???
Hey whats up
My problem-mobile is acting up again... My check engine light has come on...
I cracked my oil pan and the light came on, went to the dealer, they said the check engine light was a separate prob. So they changed a vacuum hose..
then it came on again.. went to a local shop... they scanned and found code 411, something to do with air intake...and changed 3 hoses... now the light came bacc on...
what the heck is going on???

P0411 is a code for the Secondary Air Injection System. It could mean that you have a leak in one of the hoses leading from the secondary air pump or that the pump itself is bad. I've also read that some people got that code when the crankcase breather hose was cracked, but I have the code and I replaced a cracked breather hose and it didn't cure the problem, so I don't know. But, it doesn't cause any problems and as long as you've cleared the code before you get a safety inspection you'll probably still pass emissions (if you live in such a state). If the dealership replaced hoses and you're still getting a CEL, I would guess that the pump itself is bad, which is a bummer because I think they're pretty expensive.
with the p0411 sec. air incorrect flow detected, you may also have a bad combi valve, (it's like an EGR valve) on the back of the head.the valave may not be seating properly. pull the valve off and try to blow through the valve. if you can blow through the valve without having vacume applied to it than the vale is bad. also this valve will throw a p0420 code catalyst effiency code. . good luck
and i hope that the info helps.

Just an FYI regarding clearing codes in order to pass inspection. Not sure what the time elapse is but if you clear the codes too soon before going to inspection, at least here in MD, they WILL fail the vehicle. Did it for my sister's volkswagon a few hours before she went. They told her the codes were cleared too recently and that they would not pass the vehicle.
