Erratic speed sensor problem means you should clean your speed sensors in the wheels and if it does not fix then you have to replace them. It should be turning on the brake/ antilock light with the CEL.

Info display problem is common to Audi's I think ecartoys guy says it is a bad solder joint. Ok well i can't post his webpage but look for him he is a member.
If you do not know how to clean the wheel sensors, I post on it like once a week. Or you can find it in the Haynes manual.

Couldn't the thunk noise be the snub mount? that is what Jest told me to look to for a thunking when I backed out of my steep driveway... I disagreed although I know the snub mount would help the problem.

so you guys htink i should check my rear bushing and stuff. because it feels like my whole drive train is moving in the rear. like there is so much play... i just wish i knew where to start. becuase i think this could be some of my speedo problem because the one speed sensor sits right in the top of the rear diff. any other suggestions?

I say put it on a lift or jack the back end up. try wigling the tire(s) back and forth and up and down. check the rear sway bar links too. You have to get under there to see where the problem is coming from.
