Cold air is good.
well, I'm w/david on this one, we are stuck in the heat.. except i think i have you beat, my in car thermometer hit 118-120 pretty consistantly over the summer. It was a pretty hot summer this year, and the 75 degree weather feels cold at night afterwards, but the car desn't think so....

cold damp air mixes better with gasoline allowing your engine to fully maximize its performance from your gas.

Cold air is more dense, therefore having more molecules of oxygyn per square inch. This allows for more efficient combustion. My engine is loving the 30 degree weather, although my tranny seems to be getting worse performance.
Jestnomen is correct, colder air is more dense, this means that more fuel is added to get the mixture correct and fuel is power! This is the same reason that an intercooler can help horsepower, by lowering the intake air temperature.
Actually Dude, I didn't think I was repeating anything. I was adding to what another poster had said, but felt that the increased amount of gasoline allowed by a denser air mixture wasn't stated.
My apologies
