Not really. Might as well let the dealer handle it. There may be some TSB's that weren't addressed by the first owner.

brrman, could a faulty sensor cause unnecessary coolant burning? I just got a code about the engine coolant temperature circuit high...but Bentley has no recommended solution for the problem...I am almost positive now I am burning a small amount of coolant. It goes from about between the arrows on the reservoir to about 3/4 of the way down the bottom one in about a month.

Actually, a failed sensor will cause the ecu to back off on the timing because it thinks the engine is getting too hot.

Ummm,

coolant doesn't burn. It leaks. Either you are leaking externally, or internally

Check your oil. If it looks like coffee with cream, or if you have gunk in your oil filler, you likely have a blown head gasket. Are you blowing any smoke or steam?

Are you leaking coolant from anywhere? Front of engine? Likely water pump. Get if fixed ASAP.
Hoses? Radiator?
