cold start, pls help
Problem with intermittent cold start issues. Just bought a4 2001 1.8t Q, 3 months ago, still under factory warranty. Will bring to dealer but is there any simple things I could do? thnx

brrman, could a faulty sensor cause unnecessary coolant burning? I just got a code about the engine coolant temperature circuit high...but Bentley has no recommended solution for the problem...I am almost positive now I am burning a small amount of coolant. It goes from about between the arrows on the reservoir to about 3/4 of the way down the bottom one in about a month.

coolant doesn't burn. It leaks. Either you are leaking externally, or internally
Check your oil. If it looks like coffee with cream, or if you have gunk in your oil filler, you likely have a blown head gasket. Are you blowing any smoke or steam?
Are you leaking coolant from anywhere? Front of engine? Likely water pump. Get if fixed ASAP.
Hoses? Radiator?
