what OBD system did he use? what was the code? only reason im asking is the 2003 car needs to be scanned with CAN bus ( VAG-HEX ) not the old OBD II

Stores (at least around here) like autozone have the Hex adapter that works with ODBII scanners.

that's good to know normally they just guess when they dont have the right tool thats why I asked for the code

I couldn't help myself and skipped out of work a little to see the mechanic. It said "Bank 1 Oxygen Sensor."

What does this refer to?

After it says "Bank 1" it should say "S1" or "S2" meaning 1st sensor (precat) or S2 2nd (post cat) sensor.

that's the O2 sensor but if you had the code it would tell me if that was the problem or if it were an air/vacuum leak which was causing the O2 sensor to give a bad reading P1131 is the O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 now if it were that code it would be wiring and most likely the O2 sensor but saying that there are a few codes that say the O2 sensor when its not that causing the problem if you see what I mean
