Computer problem??
So i was driving on the 405 today and all of a sudden my A4 stalled and it took about 6 tries to get it to start. also, when it stalled the brake froze up and i had to pulled e-brake. let's face it, i'm a girl and i don't know much about cars, but i love my A4 and it would be great if someone could take a guess as to what the problem is. thanks!

RE: Computer problem??
What kind of motor do you have in your A4? Is it a 1.8t, or a 2.8/3.0? If it's a 1.8t, and it doesn't start at all, it could be engine sludge. How long have you had your car? What year? And what kind of motor oil do you use?
Sorry for all these questions. The more information we have about your car, the easier it would be for us to pinpoint the problem.

You should be using full synthetic for a 1.8t, and changing the oil every 3-5k miles. Audi says you can go up to 10k between synthetic oil changes. For starters, I would take your car in to your local Audi dealer. If it is oil sludge, you may need a new engine. If you can provide receipts showing proper oil change intervals and VAG-approved oil being used, Audi may cover the cost of a new engine. I'm not saying this is the case, but I'm giving you a worst-case scenario.
Here's a complete list of all Audi-approved engine oils:

Make sure you have been using any synthetic oil on that list.
