Default Concert radio code question.

I dont know if this is the right section so if its not Im sorry. I have searched and found nothing, but my radio is locked in my 1999.5 A4. I have the concert audio system with cd changer, and from what Ive read the stealership charges money for something I wouldnt when I was a flat rate mechanic at a stealership. Now is there anyway to get a radio code for free or MUCH cheaper then the ~$100 give or take $50? I already checked the trunk and no written code (I heard this works only 10% of the time). I also checked the spare tire and for the card in with all my audi books in the glove compartment. Any ideas? Im desperate and have been using my treo smartphone as a mp3 player for the drive to work/school. Thanks

sorry dude, it looks like you've tried all your options...only thing you can do now is try to call around to several dealerships...some dealerships (though very few) will give you your code for free...talk to the service department and ask them directly

found the stealershp that sold my car and they "purged their records" so Ill have to dole out $53 to get the code.

Now when the radio needs to be reset is it to be left on for an hour with the car off or on?
