Default Is my A4 Ethanol capable?

With the E85 ethanol pumps starting to show up in Michigan here, I was curious if the 99.5A4 was capable of handling the 85-15 ratio? Looked online but didn't really find anything. For .75 cents cheaper than gas, it would be a nice welcome. Thanks for the help.

I wouldnt suggest it, audi suggest premium. so dont deviate from that unless you like having problems.

Yeah I'm thinking probably not. If it doesn't mention it in the User's Manual I'm assuming that it wouldn't be. I've seen other vehicles list when Alternate fuels could be run through them.

I am pretty sure you will have problems with combustion.

People have problems when they put anything other than premium - causes knock in the engine.

manual says, methanol fuels which do not meet these requirements may cause corrosion and damage to plastic and rubber components in the fuel system *blend of gasoline and ethanol(grain alc. orethyl alc)-anti knock index must be 87 or higher,-blend must NOT contain more than 10% ethanol.

Yea engines weren't made for high ethanol content fuels...but I have a feeling thats def where we are going in the future. You can make ethanol out of most garbage as I've learned recently, and I'm sure we have enough of that to go around.

Ethanol also has worse burn characteristics then an unleaded fuel. Less power and in many cases worse mpg.

Ethanol has about 1/2 the energy of gasoline. It burns slowly and has high octane. We can't use more than 5 or 10% ethanol blend.

I don't know about that. Here in Michigan there are already 4 stations that offer the 85/15, that is 85% ethanol. Here is an article on MSNBC that talks about the benefits and conversion of vehicles. You can get 2 gallons of ethonal out of 1 bushel of corn, thats great! http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8262015/page/3/
