Default Connections in Trunk

I was digging in driver's side of my trunk tonight (98.5 model) to find out what connection was available for a plug and play CD changer and found the round plug for the CD changer, but also found an unused rectangular plug further up on the wheel well. What is it?

Does anyone know?

It's a D-25 connector, I have it in both my A4s and I have no idea what it does. I have a Bose system in my 99.5 with the amplifier and still the unconnected D-25 connector.

vibeuser,

I have an 01 2.8 with the symphony stereo. It didn't have a cd changer, so I'd like to get one. I looked in the pocket area of the trunk and only found the rectangle (serial cable-looking) connector. Where did you find the round one?

btw, great forum, guys. I'm very impressed by the level of knowlege traded here. I've learned a great deal.

For the record, I just purchased a used (27k mi) 01 2.8 quatro auto with tiptronic. It's my first audi, and the the best car I've ever owned! And since I'm probably near the top of the age limit for your group, I've owned plenty of cars.

The round connector should be by the compartment where the tool box is located. My stock cd changer mounted on that same bracket as the tool kit. NOw I jut use the ipod hookup and never listen to cd's anymore.

if you dont have a CD player, you can buy a 5 cd changer and put it back there. I have the ipod cord instead.

I had to remove the mounting bracket for the toolkit to find the round connector. It is wrapped in sponge. It's in there.
