consider buying 98 audi 1.8t
Hello folks,
Im consider buying an audi a4 1.8t no quarttro at the moment. I have read some stuff about the timing belt issue and many others but i like to know and hear from the owners of the b5 1.8t about any other common problems i should look for and check before buying the car. I was going to take it to my usual shop, they do bmw, benz, audi and many other europeans cars to inspection after buying to do preventive maintainance. At the same time i like to know what's going to be wrong, at how many miles, common stuff and things so that i could tell the shop to check it for me. "i have to be specific because they charge $100aud per hour to diagnose a problem.
thanks ahead of time,
doobie

the only other very common problem I know of is that the air bag light on the dash turns on due to a faulty connection under the passenger seat. Mine is on... ive gotta get that fixed lol

how bad is the electrical problems on this car? I had bmw before to my knowledge they dont have much fault but i do want to try audi. what about suspension problem and drivetrain? E36 are know to have rear suspension ripped right out from the chasis while driving. How many of these problem could be fix yourself, i dont mind DIY on my car. Is there any special tools u need to work on audi?
