Default control arms done!

Hey all -

Just spent two days in the garage... (skipped a couple of classes, but hey they were gonna be boring anyway, lets face it). Got all 8 control arms and both tie rod ends replaced with the "exceeding oem specification" meyle parts from purems.com, and a terrible looking (but very functional) boost gauge in the A pillar.

The control arm job was... tiresome. I took a lot of pictures and was going to do a really nice DIY thing, but I followed the tutorial here - http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel43.shtml - and it worked out great, thanks to the maker of that page. I had a little help from friends which was awesome, and I saved myself a good 500 bucks in labor (hooray!). Just figured I'd let you guys know that now that I understand the suspension, I'd be glad to help anybody else out who wants to attempt the same.

Oh, as a side note, I'm boosting at about 7psi with about -21 or so vacuum at idle. I'm pretty sure this is normal, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Next thing is a 710n DV and APR chip, hopefully before a week or two is up :-D

(after the alignment, of course :-P)

Did you get an alignment done after the replacement?

Half read. Half understand.

Is it pulling right now? Make sure you do it soon because wrong toe in/out will eat up your tires.

yeah, I'm getting the alignment done tomorrow morning. Going over bumps and asphalt changes, it's as quiet as a mouse though, which is a great change from the CLUNK, CLUNK. every time I hit something more than a micron tall.

My tires are pretty well thrashed already, probably won't pass inspection, so I'm changing them out next week... not too worried about the toe problems this afternoon / tomorrow morning. (not to mention, I marked on the tie rods were the lock nut was before I did it, so hopefully it isn't too far off right now. (yes, I know that it must be virtually impossible to get a perfect alignment when changing the CA's.))

...or should I get new rims AND tires next week! hmmmm.... although that would delay the chip plans.... yeah nevermind. tires it is, then chip. then rims later. :-P
