Ummmmmm, if you are lucky, the guy ripped you off for 15 dollars, pocketed the money, and didn't do anything.

The car requires special transmission fluid from Audi or VW which costs about 15 dollars a quart. Find out what he put in there, you may have to drain it out and replace with the correct fluid.

Did you actually see him put the transmission fluid in there? He would have to pump it in from underneath.

2. To drain the power steering fluid, first order the correct fluid, Pentosin CHF 11, which you also cannot get at autozone of pepboys. Surprisingly my local Napa has a pint in stock. otherwise you have to go to an Audi or Vw dealership and buy a bottle of their PS fluid. Do not use powersteering fluid from autoparts stores. Get a turkey baster, suck the fluid out of the reservoir, refill, drive the car for a day or two and repeat. You should then be good for 50K miles.

3. G12 antifreeze you need to get at either a VW/Audi dealership or over the net.

4. Don't buy new spark plug wires. It is highly unlikely you need them.

5. Invest 15 dollars in a Haynes manual for Audi/VW to learn how to perform general maintenance on your car. The first thing to learn about this car, and most other german cars, is that they all use special fluids, not generally available at oil change places.

I think thats the fluid he put in there, and i blv he said something about VW's using that fluid too. He indeed did the tranny fluid change because i saw it and he showed me the difference between the old and the new. THanks for all the info though i appreciate it.

I bought mine at autozone. Also check out the Bently manual. It's a more compreshensive manual that the Audi techs use.

About 3 months ago I topped off my coolant (approx 3 cups including H20) with a non-G12 brand. Does anyone know what kind of damage I've done to the car or what problems I can expect to see in the future because of this.

juke, did you flush your system and put in some fresh g12? mixing the two different kinds of coolant will create a nasty sludge..and probably cause some major damage if it's left in there...

Didn't flush it yet. Just realized it was a problem while scanning this forum. I'll add it to growing list of "things to do to the Audi this weekend because I've neglected the car for so long" list. I've never flushed anything besides my own waste before. Hopefully it's not too difficult. Brown sludge doesn't sound good for moving parts. F.........
