Default Coolant Indicator on every morning

I have 2001 A4 Quattro with 71k miles on it. The coolant indicator comes up every morning when I start my car and goes off in couple of minutes. The coolant indicator shows in the middle and car runs smooth. I am very new to the repairs and I have no idea whether the coolant is low or what type of coolant I have to use and where to buy.

Is it ok to top it off or do you guys recommend flushing it all out and re-filling. Any ideas how much would it cost to flush out and re-fill and what parts do we need? Thanks and appreciate all the inputs.

Thanks,
RCil

You need to buy G12 coolant only, go to the dealer to get it. If you open the hood and look at the coolant resivior it will have a max mark, thats what the level should be at when the engine is hot. If its not there top off the system and check for leaks. If its full and light is still going off then you need a new resivior which has the sensor built in.

Thanks very much for your quick response. I will check the coolant level and buy G12 from the dealer. Hope I don't need to flush and refill.

Thanks,
