anyone know where it is on a 2001 a4 2.8 v6. i went to the stealership and they wanted $600.00
thats right $600.00 lol to replace the old one. for a $5.00 sensor. they claim you have to tear the front of the car (radiator and what not to get to it) but i thought it was on top of the engine somewhere near the back. i checked audiworld tech forum threads and they're all for 1.8t cars. so any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance

 

Are you sure they didn't say thermostat?

 

If it's like my 98 the sensor is in the crossover tube that runs across the back of the engine. I removed the rubber intake tube & it was no problem to get to. Mine has a blue connector with 4 wires.

 

yeah, he did say they were going to replace the thermostat also, but it still works! i know the thermostat is hard to get to but F%$%$%$%$%$ $600.00 to replace $25.00 in parts is just insane. jestnomen, i did find the audiworld tech article that deals with the 2.8 last night. i'll try and tackle it this weekend.
