I'm trying to replace my ect on my 98 2.8 a4q but can't get the old one out. I used this guide http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng54.shtml and was able to remove the plug and retention clip but the sensor wont come out. I've destroyed the top of the ect using pliers to pull it out. The ect spins and I've tried wiggling it out but nothing.

Are there any tips to get this thing out!?
