Default Couple Questions about modding

I plan on buying a 2001 1.8t a4 in the next 2 months or so
i want to upgrade the the turbo, and add a few mods too it
and maybe getting it pushing out about 18-20psi
i know its going to take a bit of money and a lot of rebuilding the engine(or so ive heard)
but i was just wondering what exactly will need to get done and what some good companys are for the parts[/align]

intake, exhaust, chip, mbc, and dv. no engine rebuilding needed, the internals will do fine. you'll probably need some new coilpacks too. how much whp you aiming for?

you only need to replace the packs if they die.

i was thinking about 300whp
so im assuming that would be about 350 to the crank?
im not sure about the power loss im a noob at this stuff
so even if i upgrade the turbo i wont need to rebuild the top half of the engine?

The only weak point in the engine is the rods, the pistons are forged by Mahle i believe, which can handle more power than your gonna run.
If your only aiming at 350HP at the crank you shouldn't have to change any internal engine parts, but going over that number then i would upgrade the rods.

Where do you get your preventive maintence info from? Change em 2 aftermarket b4 they do,before your stranded on the side of the road, before the $100 tow fee,$300 shop charge and 2 days of carless agravation. It is fairly common for a chip alone 2 blow orginal coilpacks within a few weeks.

PSI is irrelevant without knowing how many CFM u wanna push. You can run a turbo the size of your head at 5 PSI and put out 350 or a GTSR at 25 PSI. IT's all in how u run your set up. So what turbo you plan on running?
