Default This Cruise Control DIY...

...works!

Taking the module out was kind of a pain (it's hard to get your hands up there and see what you're doing at the same time...I ended up sitting in the passenger seat and doing it blind, which was much easier than kneeling outside the car and trying to poke my head and hands up there lol), but other than that, the whole thing was painless. I don't have a soldering gun, but I saw one at Radio Shack for like $10, so on my way to Radio Shack, I stopped by a computer repair place in case they could help me for about that price. The guy there used a heating gun to rewet all of the joints on the circuit board and didn't charge me anything (if you go this route, your cost may depend upon the length of your eyelashes)! So, I set everything back up and now I have CC again!

If your B5 is giving you trouble with cruise, definitely give this a shot!

Well, yeah, I finished with finals last week, so now it's vacation time. I had a minor scare with my car this morning so I skipped going to work and took it to the mechanic who confirmed what I already knew...that I need new valve cover gaskets. Anyway, I had the rest of the day free and not having cruise control has really been bothering me. If I could get tinted for free, you bet I would get them tomorrow!

Ha, well, I'm not entirely sure why he chose to do it for free, but I didn't want to assume anything bad about my new favorite computer electronics guy.

I think tint on my Avant would end up being upwards of $200, which isn't the kind of cheap I had budgeted for this week. I've seen DIY tinting videos...those pros do a great job. I mostly feel pretty confident about DIYs on my car, but definitely don't want to take on tinting the windows. I'm fairly certain I would do a terrible job.

no way lol. and since you have time on you hands, you can even take the door panels off and do a better job than a shop. the only problem is the rear windshield because you have to cut precisely the right amount off around the heating things on the sides of the windshield. go to like walmart to buy the stuff. you can do it!!!!!

If you ask me $200 is pretty cheap for tint!!!! Here in Calgary, Alberta its $400-$500 depending on the place!!!! But you get lifetime warranty as long as you own the car no bubbles or anything etc...... and scratches too... but my car being an audi obviously you need to add about 75-100 bucks more because its a luxury vehicle!!! Which sucks! Everything is so much more expensive here to get a new DV and an APR 3 program its gonna run me $1350 so you guys are lucky!!!

Noooo way...I've seen what a bad tint job looks like and it would break my heart to do that to my precious little Audi.
