Default crying day!

I bought my A4 99, 2.8 quattro one week before.
And the day before yesterday the check engine light was on. Autozone check showed the code of P0102(The PCM determined that the mass air flow input is lower than expected for the current engine operating conditions.)
and P1857 ( Transmission transfer case contact plate 'c' short circuit tobattery ).
They told me I should replace the MAF sensorfor P0102 and they did know about the P1857.

Amazingly, after I replaced the air filter but not MAF sensor ($216!!!), the engine light went off.

And it was off this morning. However, this afternoon, I suddenly found that the engine light turn on again!!! And it showed the same code P0102 and P1857!!!!

I have another problem that is do I need to change the engine oil and transmission oil? If do, which oil should I choose and where I should go? Also how much usually it costs?

Thank you for your patience and help for a newbie.

MAF should be covered under warranty. its emissions.

and just go get an oil change at the dealer. its not THAT expensive.

i have no idea if you need to change your fluids, but i would suggest doing it yourself if you do. theres no bigger waste of money IMO then getting someone else to change your oil.

also, my check engine light went on last night, exactly 1 week after i purchased the car, im terrified

I got my oil changed at kwik lube, they did an awsome job. It was 59$ total for the best synthetic oil, very easy and simple. I'll go back there again.

I dont understand a $50 oil change from the dealer??? Any quality VW 502.x spec oil costs close to $5 a quart. 4+ qts.=$20min.and the OEM oil filter from the dealer is about $13. So are you telling me the DEALER is only charging roughly $17 in labor for this service? Thats impressive.

Yep, clean the contacts on the connector. This is starting to sound like a recording for me lately LOL, but I'm not kidding - I think sometimes people don't know how many idiosyncrasies and freakish behaviors can be cured or eased by doing this. It's worth the $6 and the 45 minutes' time to clean all the contacts you can find in the engine bay.
