I have a 99 A4 2.8, Ive heard that this dashboards go bad after a while?
Mine Started fading out a few letters then half the screen , Is the anyhting
I can do to save it ? Or have to Re/RE with a new one ?
I guess this things are pricey ?
Can I drive it like that till I get another Dash?
The shouldnt be anyproblems to remove it ?
An Hour or so ?

 

o your talkingg about the instrument cluster not the dash yea those do fad after some time a new cluster is about $900 canadian from the dealer but you can just turn it off if you want there is a button underneath the wiper switch that will take it off

 

Sorry the cluster I called the dealer today and the have it, its like
900C$ as you said...
Wat I found out is that there are rebuilt so I have to give back a core, so
if it can be rebuilt I assume there are people out there that can do it ???
for much lesss then what the dealer wants.
Im in Toronto so if the is anyone around that knows, ket me know please...

Do what I did. Find an instrument cluster with approx the same mileage. Wait till it is the same, and then swap it in. I bought one for 200 USD.

 

This is from a wreakers in the states right
this are hard to come by in Canada Ive tried the
wreakers we use at work and none of them have one most
say go to the dealer for it ?
Is the a wreaker in the states that would ship to Canada ?

u could do the same thing then have the dealer make the miles on it if u wnated to go that route

 

Look them up on http://www.car-part.com. I can't think of any reasons why they won't sell to Canada?

 

Someone posted here or on audiworld a few months ago about replacing the capacitors on his cluster and resolving the issues.

I know nothin more, except that repacing the capacitors would cost about 5 dollars in parts. Something to think about.
