Default de-badging question

Question: What is the safest way to de-badge your car without messing up the paint?

I was thinking that I would just yank off the badges, rub some wax on the residue, then be done.

Anyone else have a better method? I'd rather not screw up the paint on my new A4.

Thanks,
Blake
