The dealer can't work on my car, and doesn't know why.
Hey Vaudi that would be cool if you could help. I have to replace the turbo first to see if that will take it out of limp mode, It should be here on friday, and I'll let you know how it turns out. The vag cable i have is a cheap ebay that I got from a friend that found it after a roomate moved out, so I never really got it working in the first place. When I try to test the port to set it up, it just says that the interface does not exsist. So I don't really know what to do.
Check for any blown engine management fuses/relays. If nothing wrong there un-hook the ecm and perform a 30 power reset by removing the battery terminals and touching them together.
re-connect the battery then re-connect your ecm, if it still doesn't communicate its either your diagnostic equipment or you ecm needs to be replaced.

You don't happen to have your ABS light on and the Brake light blinking, would you? I doubt the dealer would overlook it, but a bad ABS control module will stop your car from communicating with any OBDII thing-a-majiggers.
Not gonna happen, if the abs module was bad you would still be able to communicate with both the ecm and tcm, thats how we diagnose bad abs modules.
