Default Debadged Today...Quick Question

I debaged my 97 Pearl White today. Everything went fine but I can still see a faint outline of the numbers and letters. Its basically a matter of the paint where the badges used to be being lighter than the rest of the trunk. Am I going to be able to get it to match? My friend has a buffer but he lives across town. He said it would buff out but I don't wanna make the trip unless it def. will. If not im going to put the badges back on. Lemme know what you all think...

Did you try Goo Gone....sometimes the fade in the paint is caused by the glue resude been there for so long. If not def. a buffer would do it. You shopuld post some pic's to see how it looks.

Naw, use a light compound. A buffer + compound would work... but just wax or something will NOT work... you need to take clearcoat OFF to make the letters go away.

If you want, phone a good detail shop and ask them if they do high speed cuts... if they do, get them to do a quick cut on your trunk, and it'll fix it right up. Dont put the badges back on...

Yeah, down a few beers, then drive across town.

Where's my sarcasm font when I need it.

I went to my friends tonight and we buffed it with wax. Took most of it away, can still see it a little at the right light. Im gonna try to buff again tomorrow with a compound. I will post pics tomorrow for sure. Thanks for all your help...

Edit: No I didnt use Goo Gone. My dads painter at work said not to use any chemicals. I used a blow dryer and dental floss and thats all.

same deal with mine. i noticed it the most, none of my buddies could see the outline at all, just we are used to seeing the tag there, and little things like that, we notice the most. give it some time i say, it should go away, or again, use some goof off, that stuff aparently takes off the clear coat, well the old version. seen a new one now that doesnt mess ur car paint. u want the one that does

No goo gone? Wow that must have taken a long time? What did you just heat it up and use your finger nail to scrape it away?
