Default debadging problem

I just got a 1998 a4 1.8tqm and was debading it with a hair dryer and floss, but the goo gone and another sticker remover are not working to get the thin clear film off thats left, so you can see where the decals were they are just not their now. any suggestions to help get that off, do you think that the cold weather is part of the problem or that the badges are just old, i have heard of some 3m adhesive remover for car decals specifically but its out and i dont want to pay more money if there is another way to get them off.

We used to use "wax and grease" remover to remove badges when i worked at a body shop. you need to put a little bit of elbow grease in it too. if that doesnt work you can get a lambs wool buffer pad and a little bit of compound and that should take away the shadow of where the badge once was.

This sounds funny but Ronson Lighter fluid works well (Zippo fluid) and does not harm the paint. I learned that when i was working a a used CD store. Takes off all kinds of gummy adhesives.

this is BAD advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but it worked for me and i guess i was just lucky because i did no damage to the paint.

heat it up, squirt some goo gone on there and scrape it with a ski or snowboard wax scraper.

this is not a 2 min job. it should take you like 10-15 min on each thing. heat up , squirt .. use a towel and rub like crazy!! keep heating up.. keep squirting.etc..

it will come off it just takes a while. and yes the cold might play a factor in this.

here, check this out.. its from when i debadged my car.. [ul]
