Hello, I just performed my first oil change. I put in 3.5 quarts in my 1998 A4 1.8T and I think my dipstick reads full but I cant tell for sure. Need Help. Am I supposed to put in atleast 4 quarts?

 

did you change the filter as well ?

start it up and run it for a few minutes and see if it goes down

 

Yeah i changed the filter with a bosch. when i read the dipstick the bead of oil is on the bottom but it looks like the oil line is up on top. which one do i read?

 

did you clean the dipstick off before the test ?

and did you get the small or large capacity filter ?

 

yeah i cleaned the dipstick off before with a paper towel. The filter I used was a Bosch 72163. I dont see anything about a large or small capacity on the box

 

it wouldnt say anything about capacity
i cant remember the part number off hand

but i know that the smaller capacity filter will hold about that much less

nothing to really worry about, but id reccomend getting the larger one
