Default determining 12v from 30v

Ok before anyone gets angry i did a search and didn't come up with anything useful. I found posts debating which was better but not how to tell which is which. I'm interested in a 2.8 as a daily driver and i want the 30v. How can i tell that it is a 30v? Were they made in different years, i have been reading the forum for a few months but i think this is my first post. So far i think this has been a useful resource in helping me decide what i want.

ya dude 96 and 97are 12v, 98-01 are 30v.... good choice on the na motor... its a sweet motor, good torque and the chrome window trim and wood grain and real leather are major plus sides over the 1.8

yea, you'll have plenty of time staring at the wood grain, and sitting in the real leather while your playing catch up to a lightly modded 1.8

kidding ! (kind of)
