Difference between a4 in Australia and a4 in America

Long time reader.
Im in Australia, and would like to buy a American ECU. just because im going bolt on and no one in Aus has any programs.
what im would love to know is whats the difference between a Aussi spec ECU and a American spec ecu?
can i run a American ecu on my car?
