Default Differerence between pre&post 98 1.8T power

Anyone know the what fors between the pre 98 1.8T (121 kW) and the post 98 1.8T (132kW) in the A4 quattro (at least the ones sold in Australia). I read somewhere this is down to the turbo boost pressures- anyone know the real difference ?

Pre 98 boosts around 5-7 psi stock, while post 98's boost around 32-35 psi. Thats the real difference.

LMAO......but really the difference is that the newer a4' s have a variable valve timing that increases hp levels to 180hp from 150hp.........but I believe it started in 2000 in the U.S.

One of the reason for the higher HP in the 2003 model was the K03 Sport versus just hte K03 not sure what year that started but my moms 2003 has the K03 sport while mine originally only had the K03

whoa man the years and power numbers are all wrong.

i have no idea whats up with the australian audis, but in the US VVT started in 00 i think. and the ko3 sport started in 01 so it went from 150hp to 170hp for the 1.8T.

I thought only the 2.8 had variable valve timing. the 1.8t doesnt have it, though it should because vw used it on their 1.8t in 00
