dissapointment on audi(tiptronic)
so far every mechanic i went to does not want to work on tiptronic trannys and i dont blame them, but the tranny is spossed to hold up to 300 hp. i hear many tiptronic cars(stock) are having problems. driving an audi i would expect to have more reliable tranny since it is compared with bmw and mercedes. i do not know about the b6 and b7 tip trannys but the b5s dissapointed me. i feel like since it has the name, why not make it more reliable.
Dama onepoint8tee beat me to the punch. Levelten is supposedly the best way to go. I have heard a few negative things about them though. they have been talked about on the forums a few times.
"why not make it more reliable."
Why did you buy TIP in the first place?? Not trying to flame just wondering? Please dont say the wife I've heard that so many times. Its like saying my dog ate my homework! You can make TIP's really nice tho just look at EVOLA he has one of the fastest A4's

My past 4 cars have been manual, so its not the inability to drive stick thats holding me back. Im content with tip for now, only because I know what the future holds. And at least its TIP, and not straight automatic. Im still able to hold and wind gears outif I want, and I can select my shift points. So its not totally gay as some of you tip haters insist.
Some have never even driven a tip yet they bash it. In comparison to "Tip" trans in most other cars Audi's is the most responsive or acts more like a manual. You up and downshift whenever and whatever rev range you want, not what ecu thinks is best.
