Some have never even driven a tip yet they bash it. In comparison to "Tip" trans in most other cars Audi's is the most responsive or acts more like a manual. You up and downshift whenever and whatever rev range you want, not what ecu thinks is best.

I actually don't mind my tip. Granted its not as responsive or "satisfying" as a true manual, but it gets the job done.

Well, Dick, my wife refuses to drive stick and and we share cars. So take your refusal to accept the "wife excuse" and shove it straight up your ***. jkjk... But seriously... I had to compromise at that the time of purchase. Hopefuly it gets paid off this year and Ill be seriously in the market for a tqm to mod the crap out of and give this to her (minus a couple mods for transfer.)
My past 4 cars have been manual, so its not the inability to drive stick thats holding me back. Im content with tip for now, only because I know what the future holds. And at least its TIP, and not straight automatic. Im still able to hold and wind gears outif I want, and I can select my shift points. So its not totally gay as some of you tip haters insist.

Just make sure you get a 2.0 so that i can ask you any questions!

man - I have boatloads of fun in my tip.
And I can calmly drink my coffee at the same time that I smoke a ricer.

...and btw - a B5 A4 tip tranny (ZF 5HP19FL/A) cannot hold 300 hp. It has an engine torque rating of 230 ft.lbs (310NM) and a max power rating of 228 HP (230PS) at 5500RPM.

The 5 speed S4 tranny is ZF 5HP24A and is rated for higher torque ft.lbs. The 6HP26X (6 speed) has even higher torque ratings.

tip is automatic which ever way you look at it and you dont buy these if speed is the need then manual tranny is the way but having said that the automatic will last longer because you cant punish it

Oh yes you can punish it.
My tip is self destructing right now actually. I still have one last diagnostic procedure to do before I give up in it, but its been slipping like a SOB the past month, even after a fluid and filter swap.

Dave's right though - if you want to race or need maximum speed than tip is not for you. It's mainly for balanced driving, a little fun with your convenience.

if its slipping it might need the belts retentioning, not my area of course but done it a few times on the older autos there are bolts on the outer of the gearbox which need resetting now and then or have you checked for recalls for that problem like software upgrade?

belts? The drive belts you mean? TB and all belts were changed about 3 months ago.

No recalls that I have found, no software upgrades. The problem is intermittent, but has been getting more frequent - the car will jolt like a **** when gearing up, usually under heavy acceleration.
