I'm sure this has been discussed but having trouble finding the *correct* answer.

I lost my wife's primary FOB. Her 2nd one has been sitting for 1+ years without a 2032 battery in it. I put a brand new battery in it. FOB light blinks on button press but the car does not recognize it. When I put the FOB into the dash slot and press it, I get a message "Please remove key". I've tried using the mechanical key in the driver's door to reset (press unlock on FOB, turn key left/right/left) - no luck. There is, of course, no place to use the mechanical key to start the car.

I'm stuck (in more ways than one). Any help or thread would be greatly appreciated!
