Hey y'all, my turbo is shot and I'm gonna get a K04 because that's what I was planning to do anyway but just not this soon. Since I'm short on cash, can I just do the K04 now and computer later? Yea, I know it won't be fast until the new ECU is put in BUT will it hurt anything? Who's gotbad assprices on K04s?

 

its just a new program not the whole ECU - and I wouldn't do it for very long, you'll also need a new exhaust. If you short on cash and won't have any in the near future then you might want to just stay stock

 

I could be wrong but you should be able to run a KO4 fine. The reason being you have a bigger turbo than any other year B5. You KO3 is almost as big as a KO4, you would gain about 15 hp over a KO3 with a chip. I asked this question a while and this was the answer I got.

 

A vag cable and an adj fpr w/ gauge would handle the increase in airflow.

whatever exhuast you have is fine. The ko4 will drop right into place. 710's are cheap and are kind of a crap shoot. Just spend the little extra when yours fails and get something better from forge or apr.
